Deciding on what kind of bar you want to have at your reception is tough. Some people do not want a bar at all, some people want an open bar, and I am somewhere in between. One thing was for sure, when it comes to the bar for our reception, I do not want liquor served. No shots, no mixed drinks, no liquor. When there is an open bar at a wedding reception with liquor things go to another level, and not in a good way.
So we decided on beer and wine, but then we started talking and wanted to offer more than that, so we went with margaritas! Even though it is liquor, I talked to the bartenders and they will only serve the tequila mixed in the margarita, not a shot. The bar tending company is Bartenders 4 U and they have been excellent to work with so far. Planning a wedding from a different city can be complicated, but they have willingly met with me twice on different weekends.
Since we are serving margaritas on the rocks, we were able to choose five different flavors. The only way to decide on what flavors we wanted to serve was to do a tasting. Let me tell you, it was fun! They have TONS of flavors to choose from, but not everything goes with the lime margarita base. For example, a coffee flavored margarita is not the best…
See the wall behind us in the picture above? Yeah, all of the bottles are the different choices we had. We got about a 0.5 ounce serving mixed with the lime base of each flavor. We tried things like s’mores, watermelon, and pickle. Pickle was actually better than I expected it to be. Ultimately we decided on habanero, desert pear, grapefruit (my fav), cantaloupe, coconut, and the regular lime margarita that we all know and love!
I am so excited for these flavors and I cannot wait to drink one after our ceremony as husband and wife. Doing this tasting was really exciting and in a way a bonding experience. Afterwards I felt like a little kid though because, my mom picked us up and drove us home ha! (Don’t drink and drive)
Is there something fun or unique you served at you wedding? Let me know!
