One of my goals for the new year was to make the best out of every situation. I have been trying to do a good job at this, and a prime example would be these photos for my Fashion Friday post. Last Saturday, I met my blog mentor Dawn P. Darnell for brunch. Earlier in the week I had spent time looking for the perfect spot to meet.
A place that had both delicious food and a picturesque photo backdrop. We decided to take pictures using a zig-zag turquoise wall as our back drop. When we showed up, this bright multi-colored, multi-shaped background is what we got. Yup, the wall we thought we were getting had been painted over. It turned out not to be a big deal at all, and we just utilized what was there. I think they turned out great and it was really fun to be in front of such bright colors while wearing a bright yellow shirt.
Another example of making the best out of a situation would be when Nick’s grandmother took us shopping recently. She wanted to buy us our cake servers and champagne flutes for our wedding. She thought this would be a special item that we will keep forever and pass down to our children. She had picked out what she thought would be the perfect store and was especially excited because they do engraving. We showed up and picked out what we liked, only to be told that they were a part of sets and could not be mixed and matched.
We left feeling a little defeated, but quickly bounced back and ended up getting our things from a different store. We actually liked what we ended up with better than what we had originally picked out.
I should know by now to expect the unexpected. I will embrace what comes my way and keep making the best of every situation.
Happy Friday friends! Have an amazing weekend!
