Frito Chili Pie is one of my all time favorite dishes! It is definitely not sophisticated, but it sure is tasty! Trust me….It really is delicious and it makes for a great meal on game day! Bonus, it is kid and husband approved! Today, I am going to share two different recipes for Frito Chili Pie. The first is a recipe by my grandmother. She sent it with my dad when he went off to college. The second one is very similar to the first, but the execution is different. I suggest using the first recipe for a watch party in your home, and the second recipe for a tailgate.
Frito Chili Pie – Recipe #1
Step 1: Gather your ingredients. You will need 3 cups of Fritos, 1 can of chili, chopped onion, 1 cup shredded cheese (I grate my own, it melts better), and sour cream topping
Step 2: Layer 2 cups of Fritos, onion, and half of the cheese
Step 4: Bake at 350 Degrees for 10 minutes
Serve in a bowl with desired toppings. I love a dollop of sour cream and onions. Salsa, jalapenos, and additional cheese would also be good! This is seriously so good. I can almost guarantee you will want seconds.
Now, for option two! You will need the same ingredients as the first recipe, but you will not be combining and baking them. At your tailgate, warm up a can of chili in your slow cooker. When chili is warm, put Fritos in a bowl and top with chili, cheese, onions, and any other desired flavors! The reason I recommend preparing your dish this way is because if you are not at your home because I think the chips will become soggy during transport.
